When Stock Accuracy Depends on One Person
The stock numbers were available, but explaining how they changed meant searching from one date's worksheet to the next.

I am Hosea R Nando, Head of IT with more than 20 years in technology and 15 years building enterprise systems — in retail and the fresh supply chain.

01 / Perspective
Most IT projects do not fail because the technology is poor, but because no one truly understands the business problem first.
My career began with learning about computers in Madiun, then working as a technician, instructor and member of the R&D team at MADCOMS. I authored 19 technology books: 14 through MADCOMS and 5 through Elex Media Komputindo under the pen name ASMAD Community.
In 2011, I started as an IT staff member at Metro Department Store in Surabaya, later moving into system analysis and implementation at the Jakarta head office. I built the branch operations system (OMS) myself, then led the analysis, development and implementation of Metro Smart Retail with the team, a consignment system with more than 800 active vendors in its historical scope.
Today I am Head of IT in the fresh produce supply chain, leading the direction and priorities of system development and improvements to working procedures with the team.
02 / Outcome
These case studies show operational problems, the choices made to address them, and the results of my work with the team.

The stock numbers were available, but explaining how they changed meant searching from one date's worksheet to the next.

Sales through the app were falling, yet the server bills kept arriving and checking orders still took manual work every day.

Negotiated prices were already being used to ship goods, while their gap against cost was only traced after the transaction had run.

A purchase request has to be prepared for the next day while customer orders are still coming in and the quantities needed are still changing.

The delivery is done, but the returned Surat Jalan (the delivery note) still has to be tracked down before billing can be processed.

After weighing an item, the QC officer still had to walk to the board, find the right order line, and write the weight down with a pen before moving on to the next task.
03 / Ecosystem
One core system connects sales, reporting, alerts, attendance and delivery, and links to accounting and marketplaces.
Cloud Infrastructure
04 / Method
My focus is on delivering business benefits I can account for, particularly cost efficiency, operational control and the value of technology investment. My experience includes leading development while also taking a hands-on role in building and implementing systems.
AI-ASSISTED DEVELOPMENT
My team is lean: one support person at each company is the bridge to users, while documentation and part of the development work run on AI agents I designed. The decisions and the accountability stay with me.
